I had a wisdom tooth out a few months ago - complete non-event, didn't even need the codeine they gave me for afterwards.
Not that that stopped me though.

It's fine. Had one done a few years gaol the aching afterwards still hurt less than the constant toothache after repeated root canals. Take your painkillers before the last set wear off though.

I had a root canal on Tuesday if that makes you feel any better. I've finally found someone who believes me when I say that I have a low tolerance to pain and a high threshold to anesthetic. So just ask for more anesthetic.

1. It doesn't hurt while there doing it. Except for the cool "something is being ripped out of my skull" popping feeling, which I liked for some reason.
2. They give you industrial-grade painkillers. This allows you to spend a few days in gauzy haze. Personally, I spent my time making smoothies, listening to Parliament/Funkadelic through headphones and watching all of the old Star Trek movies when they pulled my four impacted wisdom teeth. Good times. YMMV.
