DO NOT eat anything spicy for at least a week though. The dentist told me a couple of days, I had a very spicy Mexican meal 5 days later and woke in the middle of the night with a burning/itching sensation in my gum, it was horrible and no amount of pain killers would take it away.

The very thought scares the hell out of me...unless I'm out cold. I wouldn't let the dentist extract my wisdom tooth...I insisted in having it crowned. He tried to persuade me that it was much quicker and cheaper to extract it...but I'm too much of a coward.

Actually, my wife has just given the best advice, with regard to my mouth being full of blood "just close your eyes and spit" - I sense these words will come back to haunt her...
