Default For those who married in the US.

Did you plan it out before you came? or just you just move here and wed at the first op? did you have a quicky courthouse service or something in church?

Just curious.

something we thought about, but wanted to save up for it first, but nae luck on the H1B front, so we decided why wait, planned it, postponed it a couple times cos of visa....and then, sorted...conveniently, we got hitched at the banquet hall of favourite restaurant and then turned around and partied
One of the aunts was a notary who did the service

We planned it beforehand, got married in the garden of a place in Savannah called the Gingerbread House (Steamboat Gothic style). Spent the wedding night at Amelia Island and then a couple of nights in St Augustine. Then he went back to the UK. 3 months later I flew over and we spent 10 days in the gatekeeper's cottage at Gwydir Castle in North Wales. Lovely all around.

Just my experience, but marrying an American in the UK made it much easier to get work authorization upon arrival in the USA (a stamp in your passport) with the GC arriving in a couple of weeks in the mail. I hear a lot of people who fly out and marry in the USA have to wait much longer and jump through many more hoops. Obviously, sometimes it is not possible for the other half to travel and reside in the UK, but if it is possible and otherwise "doable" can make it a bit easier stateside for the Brit 'alf.

Our wedding was planned well in advance. The cermony was not in a church. It was outside, overlooking a NCAA golf course as a matter of fact -- there's class for you. But it was conducted by an ordained Minister.

I married whilst on the VWP. Of course, we had no intention of sticking around, and after honeymooning in Barbados promptly buggered off back to Canada.

My parents came over from Uk to Maine. My wife and i got married on top of Mt. agamenticus (thats a mouthful). More like a very large hill - the weather held out and it was a perfect day. Went and got a meal at a restaraunt -

The only expenses were the wifes dress and food.....(I borrowed my suit).

We got married in the exact spot where we first kissed 12 months before......ahhhhhh...

Bloop,

Bumpkin
