Default Thanksgiving

Probably been posted before but what does everyone do at Thanksgiving when all your family are in the UK and your friends are visiting family?

We did the turkey etc last year but it didn't quite feel right - at least there's a couple of NFL games on!!

Now ! ..... to get back to the subject

It's not a real holiday just some stupid excuse for making people have thursday off then have to take the friday off without pay

What a stupid day to have a holiday ? Why don't they do what civilised country's do and take either monday or friday ?

I dare say my wifes family will cart themselves over here to eat turkey and if they think I am gonna put NFL on Tv they can piss off

For most people who get the Friday off after Thanksgiving, it is a paid holiday, taken in lieu of Veteran's Day.

If the US is not a civilized country, why are you living here and what does that make you?

We're going out for lunch with our neighbours. There will be nine of us spanning the full range from 3 to 87.

Last year my sister was here with her partner and son, and we went out to kick a football about. Bumped into one other family the whole time we were out - turned out they are Romanian.

We will be having Turkey feast with friends coming over about 20 people. I'm not up to doing all the cooking so friends are cooking it here, bless their hearts. I've made a few Pumpkin pies and Cherry pies so that with lots of wine and Beer should be fun. Tree is up but not decorated- smells wonderful though. Should be a great day - Friday off and paid as many people are.

Hubby is American but he doesn't like to celebrate it....don't get him started on his slaughter of the Indians speech

However, we were going to go to a friends house for the dinner, but now we're working. Seriously hinting and hoping for some leftovers though!!

What's wrong with having 2 celebrations then, TXG and Xmas?

I love TXG. It's a great excuse to eat, drink, relax, no work for 4 days and all without the hassle of rushing around having to buy presents, decorate etc like you do when it's Christmas.

I'm looking forward to next week
