Default Thank you AT&T!

We have phones!! Went into an AT&T branch in NYC and 15 mins later we walked out with a new SIM and PAYG contract for the husband and a new smartphone and the same PAYG contract for me..phew. They were great with us and really helpful. No deposit needed as you helpful people on here made me aware that these were only needed with post-paid contracts.
We even got a place to live sorted and we have only been in the country since Sunday! Double phew

I picked up an AT&T GoPhone also on thursday. It's not a great tariff (10c/min) but it's better than nothing for now while the credit gets up and running.

We just went for a monthly thing with unlimited calls and text and some data which, as you found, is not the most inexpensive option but at least we have access to calls , texts and t'internet when we need it and not just at the hotel

Husband is gutted as his uk phone is not 4g here and my new US phone is, teehee.

Apologies for the double post. New phone and new I pad and I can't seem to get the hang of them yet

Yeeeeeah.... about that. Actually we're trying to keep ours separate as much as possible, since the split from her previous relationship was less than amicable and she ended up in a bit of a hole.

Don't worry about missing sales, they are like UK buses, there is always another one coming along behind.

It's most unusual to see "thank you" and "AT&T" to be included in the same sentence. This may be a first.

You're on GoPhone? Good choice. Can I recommend you use callingmart.com to avoid paying state sales tax on any refills, plus get a 10% discount each month with their codes posted to their facebook page. The current AT&T coupon is LD1310. So a $60 plan comes to $54 with callingmart. If you renew through AT&T that'd be $60 + sales tax (~$65).

Here's the URL http://bit.ly/hungry-callingmart (this earns me a referral fee just to note).
