Default Temporary guardians

So I'm in Hong Kong and the laws are a bit different, but I'm in similar situation to many British Expats in the USA in that I have named guardians for my kids who do not live where I am located. Should something befall us, it will be at least 24 hours (and probably a bit more) for our selected guardians to get over here to recover the kids and take them away.

So I've been drafting a "temporary guardian" letter that gives authority to some friends to watch the kids in the short term pending the arrival of a permanent guardian who will take the children. Have any of you done something similar? Any suggested forms / templates you have for such a thing?
