Myself my husband and our young daughter want to move to Texas. I am a teacher but am confused as to how I go about getting a teaching job in Texas state. Are my teaching qualifications in England enough?

You'd need to find an employer willing to offer you a job and to obtain a costly visa. Not easy to say the least.

You would also have to be certified by that State which would involve study and testing, more or less degree equivalent level of difficulty. Probably at least a year.

Not good salaries so you wouldn't be living the high life.
And, as a teacher. No respect.

And Texas....not known as a good place for teachers if you actually enjoy the 'imparting of objective knowledge' part.

Of course there are exceptions to this but those are exceptions.

What visa are you planning to use? That's the biggest hurdle you would have to overcome.

Just in case that's not an insurmountable hurdle, it might also be worth pointing out that Texas has the 8th lowest level of funding per student and the lowest high school graduation rate in the US, at 81%.

Plus the curriculum board are just a little crazy, as Hotscot points out.

They are also looking at Brisbane.

Oh, has to be.

Probably more feasible though.

Locally, teachers pretty much need a masters these days, or at least be studying for one...which is a little crazy considering the pay.

They scooped up teachers here this year before the ink was even dry on their bachelors degrees. No masters needed to teach here.
