My wife and I are an American / British couple. We currently live in Los Angeles and are about to move back to the U.K.

We're desperately looking for a competant tax professions (accountant or lawyer) for advice on our very complicated international tax situation.

Does anyone know anyone of this type in the Los Angeles area?

If you're moving to the UK, maybe you could find someone there who could hanlde your returns for both countries? I don't know anyone myself, but in google I would try using key search terms like "CPA international speciality" plus your location, or something similar.

The large international accountancy companies ie PWC/KPMG have tax advisors experienced in US/UK tax...it will cost you though.

Unless there's something specific to CA tax that's worrying you, IRS taxes are Federal, so it doesn't matter where the tax advisor is from as it's all the same.

Just means if you prefer someone face to face or over the phone/email, whatever. If you don't mind, there's been plenty of threads recently, with quite a few recommendations.

In case you didn't look out for any of them, Peter Newton, a BE member, he's based in NY and has been recommended by quite a lot of members here as being very helpful.

I highly recommend Pete Newton. www.doug-tax.com. I have used him for the past two years. He is very knowledgable on both the UK and US side of taxes.

Thanks for the recommendation. I am interested to find someone in L.A. as well though, as I do have some specific CA state tax issues.
