Cut your cable to basic
Stop eating out 4 times a week ...

That ajustable mortgage rate is such a con....if the mortgage rate goes down enough,you can always refinance....thats what we did,yes there's closing costs,but they're not that bad considering the amount of money you can save by refinancing........however...good news for us!....making our FINAL mortgage payment today!! YAAAAAAH!!!!......15 years and it's done!!!

I'd go further and say cut the basic cable too. IMHO, any kind of paid TV service is a luxury people can easily do without. I can't understand when folks have time to watch TV (especially in the summer..)

Yeah it's pretty bad here too - super humid and the skeeters are rampaging this year. I do my gardening when there's a bit of a wind, and go out cycling when the wind drops and the skeeters fly again. Nothing like cycling to keep ahead of the insects! (Except deer flies which can keep up, whatever your speed..)

I used to spend a couple of months a year in Florida. It was always either Nov-Dec or Jan-Feb, though, not the summer! They have some good-sized cockroaches down there.... and at the other end of the size scale, the fire-ants are impressive...
