Yeah, North GA is definately nice in places. What area of it would you be near?

The one I'm already living in New York State.
I can have mountains or lakes or oceans. Throw in shopping, dining, theater, four seasons, light winters in lower NYS and skiing in northern NYS. I can have nightlife and 5 star dining or a simple walk in the park and a dinner off a cart.
While I love to visit other states, I would prefer to live in NYS.

Hawaii
Failing that, southern California (San Luis Obispo/Morro Bay area is lovely)
(I hate the cold!)

BTW, "Southern California" on the coast is generally defined as being south of Point Conception. San Luis and Morro Bay are north of there and are considered to be part of "Central California." To get more confusing, the actual geographical center of California is generally called the "Central Valley". Even more curious, San Francisco and Sacramento are often considered "Northern California" -- and it is a long way from "Northern California" to the Oregon Border.
Personally, I would like to live in a state of bliss.

I love Northern California (the San Francisco area). I must admit, I have never lived there, only gone on vacation there, but I think that area is really beautiful and the weather is nice - fairly moderate climate (not endless snow in winter like we get here). The Napa Valley area is pretty also and not too far from San Fran.

Oh, I don't know about that...
Anyway, I'm extremely happy here in WA. Having the Olympic peninsula, Vancouver BC, and tax-free Oregon so close are all very, very big drawers.
In Europe? Portugal, but not where you think: first choice would be the Ribatejo: probably Santarém or possibly Torres Novas. Second choice the Alentejo: Évora, Portalegre or Monsaráz. Or Madeira, if I wanted to be a long way away from mainland Europe.

I'll confess to only really having been to the coastal states, both left and right coasts but pretty much all the way up and down each. Not been many places in the middle (exception of St Louis and Minneapolis both for a weekend). I like the idea of Colorado because but wouldn't want to say that I'd move there without even visiting. And hubbie is a sailor so not much chance of us moving away from the water anyway.
Northern California (SF Bay Area) is pretty special. Great sailing, not far for really good skiing, wine region within easy reach for a weekend, lots of expats, great restaurants and a stunning commute (down highway 280) to work for a great company. In fact there isn't much I'd change here except I wish that I could import my family and old social life.

Northern California, lived up here for 18 years and still love it.
However i would not wish to live in the Bay Area or Sacramento , ( lived in both places ). It seems to me that most states have a fair amount of diversity, so weather permitting ,you can probably find your own shangri la almost anywhere.

Having just had a short holiday in New Mexico, it's at the top of my list right now. The lack of humidity is a definite plus.
