Thomas Cook is buried there and his grave is still British Sovereign soil.

Who was Thomas Cook?
Thanks for info on the flag Big D, that makes more sense.

Portland sounds really nice mattOR will keep that one in mind. It also depends on where the job is though, but we would definitely visit before moving!
Amandeus - English Mum explained well what island fever is. There is no ferry here to the other islands, and the nearest mainland is about 2000 miles away. However, there is lots to see here and by the time we leave I expect we will have seen just about all of it.

Do you mean Captain James Cook?

My son (and myself) did a project on him a couple of years ago and he is buried in Hawaii.

99 times out of 100 you are right, and on the one you aren't, you're funny as hell. Not bad.

This sparked my interest in finding out where Cook was buried, would like to find the bit of soil that is still British! LOL but so far have found accounts that conflict with each other - eg. one site on the internet that I have lost the link to now said that what remained of him was buried at sea, and the other one said that his remains were returned to Britain:

http://www.findagrave.com/php/famous...FScityid=36485

Other sites say other things, if anyone can clear this up I would love to hear it. We went to visit the Bishop Museum on Oahu today and there was very little mention of Cook that I could find.
