Default Starting your own business on K-1 visa

Has anyone started their own business or maybe bought a franchise in the US?

I am coming in on the K1 Visa and wanted to know if I have to wait until after the marriage before I can get the ball rolling.

As a K-1 visa holder, you are work authorized in the USA for your first 90 days. After that, you will need your EAD in hand to continue working.

As long as you aren't working for an employer who needs you to fill out an I-9 employment verification form, you can work those first 90 days without the physical EAD in hand.

After your first 90 days, you won't have work authorization until you have your EAD in hand...BUT, if you'll be self-employed, you can get away with working and USCIS will forgive this because your adjustment is based on marriage to a USC.

My K-1 fiance was self-employed overseas so he continued being self-employed in the USA after his arrival. Never posed a problem.

Buying is easy. Being able to work for the company, well the post above gives you those details.
