Re: Sprouts
The crosses are what allows water into the sprout that makes it go soggy (thats what the tv told me anyway)
Render some salt pork and then threw in some steamed sprouts and heavy cream...enourmasly unhealthy but fricking amazing

Re: Sprouts
I cannot believe we have a 35 page thread on sprouts.
But Tonrob... you make me LAUGH! I support your sprout fetish, even though I will never indulge myself.

Re: Sprouts
If you're steaming them it shouldn't make much of a difference. Steaming is good because it limits the sprouts' exposure to water (which is what releases the suplherous compounds that some weaker mortals find distateful). The main advantage to boiling in water however is the ability to use the sprout water for gravy purposes, which increases the fart-factor by a healthy degree.

Re: Sprouts
Why not start a pea thread and we can have a post contest? (This isn't strictly my thread but I'll still claim victory if, nay when, it wins).

Re: Sprouts
Pea-lovers are, by nature, a calm and quiet folk. It would be unbecoming of us to bring shame upon the Sprout Club. I shall just claim victory now, on their peas-ful behalf.

Re: Sprouts
How about nuking them? I suppose that is a little akin to steaming if you put a little water in the bottom as you nuke, but it produces a nice crunchy sprout that can then be quickly sauteed with other ingredients.

I have visions in my mind of Sprout Club being full of the rowdy and smelly side of BE, and then the little petite quiet Peas Club members of BE!!!
