hi
have posted before, am uk lawyer studying to be an attorney, hoping to work in usa longterm, currently living on canadian border,can anyone advise on the longeterm visa staus of spouse ?
the thought of my poor hubby not being able to work is not a good one!!!! :scared: once you are in the states is their any hope of the spouse working? can they apply for h1-b in their own right? surely not every spouse must sit and twiddle their thumbs??? how long must you live/work there before you can apply for green card?

They can apply for the H1b in their own right, assuming they can find an employer. Otherwise they will be on H4 and unable to work, although they can study if they want to.

As far as GC goes, it's looking worse and worse at the moment as EB3 has just been retrogressed. You can apply for Green Card but it will take a helluva long time to come. Pick a number between 6 and 20...

P.S. Visa questions are much better off being posted in the Visa forums, for future ref. You tend to get much more accurate answers in there (people actually know what they're talking about )
