Is something wrong at USCIS?

Applied for MRS Spider's EAD at the weekend - online...

Received receipt in the mail on Wednesday.

Received appointment for biometrics etc yesterday (Friday)... Date is 3 Jan 2012.

This is way too quick, surely??!!

There's always the chance of a total slow down after that, of course, but still...:fingerscrossed:

Maybe they pick some out that have just come in at the weekend for "Christmas treats" :)

They have been speeding up a lot lately (about time too with that big increase in fees in 2007). My wife's AOS application filed in April 2010 took 9 weeks start to finish...that's paper application sent off to having the GC in hand. A far cry from my own application in 2000 which took nearly 2 years.

I saw the thread title and thought "yes, they're shit"...but then that wouldn't have been anything wrong as they usually are...so yeah, I guess you're right, if they've been quick about something

Re: Is something wrong at USCIS?

One of the law firms I do consulting work for has been flooded with interviews, the excellent attorneys that they are. So, they have had me do some interviews when they have three interviews in three different offices which also conflict with a court date -- the two partners have one associate, so do the math.

That said, I wonder if the fact that we are in the first quarter of FY 2012 has anything to do with it. Also, staff is not on vacation with the kiddies.

:D

I wish mine was moving that quick! I sent mine off and got a receipt on 28th saying they received it on 23rd November and had nothing since!

Which service centre did you apply to?

They've hired in some contractors they found outside Home Depot - turns out they will work for less than minimum wage and do twice the work.

Hi

We applied on line. The application was sent to the California service center, and the biometrics appointment is here in Phoenix. Very convenient (seriously!)

Cheers

Seconded, but turds might get offended by being associated with those scumbags.

Re: Is something wrong at USCIS?

I'm preparing to apply for my EAD this week and have a few questions for our OP Harry;

- Did you pay the $380 filing fee electronically, or mail a cheque?
- If electronically, was the payment made from a UK account or a US account?
- Did you submit your supporting documents (in my case just my I-94) electronically too?
- Did you submit your Photographs electronically?

My wife and I have been issued our SSNs and SS Cards extremely rapidly here in LA, it seems like these departments might be on a roll right now.
Would like to get my EAD application in soon, hope you can help :)

Re: Is something wrong at USCIS?

Hi N-B!

We applied on-line. We gave Mrs HTS's SSN, the serial number from her I-94, the usual name/address stuff etc.

I paid with a corporate credit card, so US-based - my employer is paying for all of this.

There was nothing else to provide - we got back an appointment letter within a week telling Mrs HTS to report to the local USCIS service centre, which for us is about 15 miles away, to bring all her paperwork with her and photo ID - either passport or US driving license. We took passport, driving license, marriage certificate and anything else we could think of, just in case!

We applied back in early December, and had the appointment this morning - they took a finger print and a photo, and that was it - they had everything else they needed. Mrs HTS was in and out in under 10 minutes!!

Now we just wait - it's supposed to be sent to us in the post.

I have to say the local service centre was very efficient today, the first working day of 2012 for the govt!

Good luck!

Cheers

HTS

Officials claim that they are being pressured to rubber stamp applications.
