Default Some Americanisms that amused me.

CNN last night

Rememberance Day related to the end of WW2.

AM Radio 850

Long discussion phone in re disturbances in France - apparently all due to Al Khadia? Just waiting for somebody to ring in and correct the host, did not happen.

That Al Khadia, he's such a very naughty boy. Always getting himself in all kinds of scrapes, he is. I say deport him back to where he came from!

Another one, I was going to watch a documentary on genocide. The first thing the guy said was that a lot of stuff reported as genocide was actually mass murder, not genocide. Anyway, next thing I know they are showing 9/11 footage and going on about Osama's campaign and islam, presumably suggesting he is genocidal I say presumably because I stopped watching.
Has anyone else noticed how TV is getting militarised? I've seen national geographic stuff on animals, and suddenly I'm watching footage of US troops and what a fine job they are doing protecting freedom. Right or wrong, what does it have to do with animals?
On a visit to Dallas a few weeks back I saw a giant billboard. The only thing on it was a surfaced submarine and above it the word "freedom" - if only Mr Orwell could see it.

Not too surprising. If you want some decent propaganda, I can highly recommend issues of National Geographic from the ~ 1940 - 1943 timeframe. (They actually make for interesting reading whether or not you care about the propaganda.)

My American wife saying "I do" in an English Registry Office. I loved her.
