Default Solicitors fees

Hey everyone

My partner and I recently sought advice from an lawyer up in London, concerning our hopes for immigrating. Her fees were £300 plus the vat, though I am not disputing the advice given, the fees seem quite high. Is this amount quite normal, and why is it so hard to find an immigration lawyer. Or maybe I am just not looking hard enough!!!!

cheers

Jo.

If it was for a hour or so fee time in ventral London, I could imagine that.

Fees are best discussed ahead of time.

Most/all lawyers will advise up front their hourly rate.

I have seen links published here before on London US immigration lawyers. Best to do a search.

in my opinion i think you should ask yourself "why do i need a lawyer?" before
putting down hard earned cash, unless of course the cash doesn't mean anything to you...

there is so much info available for free that unless you have a way off the wall case you shouldn't need a lawyer.

Well finding a US immigration solicitor, gonna have to ask yourself how much business is there?
Lets face it, most of them are in London because of the consulate.
You can find a list of them via the US consulate website, but £300 is probably on par with most fee's for London.

Got to add cost of visa processing etc on top if you go through with using one, but if you have a pretty straight forward case, you might not even need one, unless you have say criminal past, overstays, or previous visa denials for instance.

Do you need a lawyer, The US immigration site has all the info you need as well as this great site. We are flying out to the US in June after sorting out our visa's through a Family F4 option with no help from any legal Eagles so we have saved ourselves a lot of money.

We have found an attorney, who we will need to use when we go forward with our process. We are going for an E2 visa, so will definatley need to hire one. Our case is a very complicated one!!!!!. Just found the fees so high!!!!
Thanks for your advice though, can you explain the Family F4 option, is this immigrant or non immigrant???
