Default Social Security Number

Hi guys,

I'm a British Citizen and me and my fiancee have just started the
application process. One thing I'm going to need is a US social security
number. Does anyone know how early you can apply for this? Can I apply
now, or wait for the I-129F to be approved?

Has anyone else done anything early in order to speed up the process or is
it best to wait for the approval before getting everything else together?
I'm going through the thousands of posts here, but any advice is helpful.

thanks
Phil

I think you have to wait till you have been approved and in the country with
your K1 or even possibly have to be married ....That's my understanding but
I guess there are loads people in here that can go in-depth with this
subject

Good Luck through this process

NOA1 21st April
NOA2....soon I hope

She can't apply until she has entered the country and has an I-94 showing K-1
status.

You will have to be in the US. Go to the SS office with your passport and
I-194. So long as the expiration date on the I-194 is not less than about 2
weeks (the time it takes to actually get the SS number) they will accept
your application and mail the card to you. Note this does not work for K-2
as they are presumed to have no need to work.
