In answer to your Q, my reply is "Um, yes." Plus the words "San Andreas Fault"....

Yeah, it absolutely pissed it down all day yesterday, reminded me of home.

The Ca weather is crap, San Andreas is crap, & the arctic stream along the coastline is crap.

How California ever got its reputation beats me.

We've been having beautiful weather here in NC for the past couple of weeks. Sure, it has been freezing at night, but the days have been clear, sunny, and warm - in the high 50's (mid teens UK). We've only had one gray day, and a light shower one night to spoil things.

If this does not let up...I'm buying a boat! It has not stopped raining since midnight and it's now 8:30am! As I write the winds are picking up again...I'll have no trees left at this rate! Grr!:scared:

Overall the weather in North America seems to me substantially worse than weather in Southern England.

Having experienced utterly miserable weather in California & New York, & viewed diabolical weather elsewhere in North America - too hot, too cold, too tornadoy, rain erosion, etc my solution is South Florida in winter & Surrey UK in summer.

OK, Arizona maybe, but I miss the ocean & don't crave the dryness, though I know some do, & Hawaii is fine for a break but paradise will come soon enough so why anticipate it?
