[QUOTE=pancho villa]and why wasn't the nasty (jealous?) post by effi made by pm? nothing short of cruel and Lesley's response certainly puts her in a better light than you and the acid effi
Acid, nasty, jealouse, moi? Sweetie you could not be further from the truth. I am just someone with a lot of years of life experience, who saw this coming a mile away. The fact that I spoke my mind in a forum on a topic that has been public for over a year now is my right, same as you. Don't go making assumptions when you don't know the whole story

I'm ignoring the rest of the thread since I'm male and cannot offer any advice whatsoever on relationships.
However, feel I need to comment on your investment decision. Presuming you have quite a few k left from a UK house sale, a CD is not a great place to put large sums of money. Please investigate investing it using reputable companies and advisors into a balanced portfolio which will provide a reasonable return on your money.

Yep -- never could see the point of CDs. You need 4 to 8 months of living expenses in a liquid MMA paying the highest rate, then the rest in a balanced portfolio according to your circumstances and risk tolerance. Great thought should also be paid to avoiding the taxman, and this is well-provided for in the home of greedy capitalism.

yes - don't you love how deducting interest and property tax is allowed and the people who most benefit from this in fiscal terms are those who effectively least need it?
if it wasn't the law and the norm I would have a guilty conscience!!! i'm certainly not complaining
however....
