Now I am worried about getting the pics signed by British passport holders...
Didn't know that ...we don't know anymore Brits

Don't know if it's any help but I believe the countersigning can be an Irish citizen as well as a UKC?

No, I didn't. I smiled before and after
Does anyone know the answer to this question. I believe I need a countersignatory. However on the form it says the person must be a UK citizen that I've known for 2 yrs and asks for a passport # of the countersignatory.
Is there any way around this? I searched for the info but could not find it. If I don't know a UK citizen to sign it how can I get my passport
The only reason I believe I need one (a countersignatory) is because my picture look a "little" different but you can still tell that it is me, but I do not want to take any chances. I'm not applying for a new passport (even though my old passport has been expired for 9 yrs...I'm still under the 10 yr window) but I thought it would be best to get the pictures signed as a precaution

The counter signatory does not need to be British. It has a space for the country of Birth for the person signing it and the space that says British passport number also says 'If applicable'

Thanks for pointing that out
Thanks AmerLisa. I know several people on the list of chosen professions that I can use.

The person doesn't need to be a UK citizen, just someone of professional standing, the usual suspects include your doctor, teacher, banker etc.
If you showed the old pic to someone and they could recognise that it is you, well then it's recognisable and you wouldn't need it counter signed.

It's been asked and answered many times.

I just tried out Walgreens, and was surprised that it is an employee with a digital instamatic style camera against a pull down screen. He found UK no problem when inserting the mem card, but nothing I (or most of us) could not do at home, cheap camera and simple editing. But at just ovet $10.00, nice to just get out of the way while I was passing the store.
He did check with me, about a stamp and sig, on the back that apparently Canadians need.

I called the Embassy in DC and the guard told me get it in ASAP because they will be closing for the Holidays 24th thru either 27 or 28th (can't remember the exact date) and after that limited staff will be working, then they will close again for New Years...
My impression was if I missed getting it in the few days before Christmas (Wed or Thurs) nothing would probably get done until the New Year... When I asked him if they were open on Friday the 23rd, he said yes but that it would be best to get it in before then. Too funny
