A question Ive asked before and the short answer is no, coz of the satellite positions and the curvature of the earth !

It would be ok if the earth was flat ! .....

Just ring a really rich mate who owns satellite bandwidth over the US and get Sky to do a intersatellite transmission. Let us know when you've got it sorted as we'd be grateful!

The footprint does actually extend a bit further than those pictures, you just need a bigger dish, had no trouble picking up reception in Cyprus.

But, it certainly does not extend as far as the US!

Yep -- I was looking for one with the absolute limit on it but couldn't find it at the time. You can, I believe, get the signal from mid Turkey to the Canaries (using south footprint) with a Jodrell Bank dish.
