Shipping from USA to UK
Just a quick question here.
What is the cheapest way to send a box of goodies to my daughter in the UK. USPS do a box 13'x11'x3-1/2' but that costs $60 she sent me one the same size but it only cost her £10 to send it here. surely there is something cheaper than $60.
Cheers and a merry Christmas to you all.

Unfortunately postage to the UK isn't cheap. USPS is about the cheapest, other than buying online at a UK retailer and having them deliver.

If you can stuff it in a bubble wrap envelope and it's small, that'll be the cheapest option.
I just sent something that was about 15oz or so, so about a half kilo, can of beans weight and that was $16.

It's just cost me $120 to mail 3 fairly small packages back home! Ouch!!

We found buying on Amazon UK was easier. USPS is probably the cheapest but the time taken varies widely.
UPS, FedEx and DHL are quicker and more reliable but more expensive.

We sent money to the adults for a big Christmas dinner together (buy a turkey, we told them!) and ordered from amazon.co.uk for the kids. For my Aberdeen training students, I let the company take the hit for the interoffice delivery (Texas pralines and hot sauce) since they regularly send shipments there anyway. If you work with an international company, they may have some ideas how to get a cheaper rate.

I just sent a package the same size, not a flat-rate box, just a regular parcel. For standard 6-10 day shipping, it was $60.53. My arse is still smarting after that one.
Next year, it's Amazon UK and the M&S website

Re: Shipping from USA to UK
Unfortunately I couldn't send my husband my homemade cookies during the visa process through Amazon UK. I told the post office workers that there should be a special postage rate for spouses separated by military, immigration, and business responsibilities, and they said, "Write your Congressman, that's a really good idea." So I did, and got the standard buzz-off "thanks for writing in please vote for me later on" letter lol...
