Default shipping from us to uk

Hi

I am moving back to London from Dallas TX and need to ship books, personal effects and some crockery back. I don't need the stuff in a hurry. I just need the cheapest and most secure option. I have heard that it is cheapest by sea. Ideally, I would like it picked up and delivered door to door with all duties etc dealt with. Is this much more expensive than picking it up yourself? Any companies you can recommend?
Thanks

There are a few threads if you try the search function in the bar above.

Eg http://britishexpats.com/forum/movin...k-cost-794343/

I went with Rainier as they have been recommended a few times on here.

Thanks Sally. I have searched in previous threads but couldn't find any companies specific to Dallas.

You'll probably just have to call a few. They usually have local agents.

In the USA we work with UniGroup Relocation Network members United Van Lines and Mayflower Transit, if you go on their websites you can search for your local agent. Alternatively you could use a company in the UK if you're more comfortable and they will arrange the US end on your behalf?

If you're not shipping a full container load then ask about a part load/shared load container where you only pay for the space you use, this is slower than an exclusive container but as you said you're not in a hurry this is definately the cheapest method and will include door to door plus handling of all the customs processes.

Hope that helps?

create an accoutn and call th enumber - they just fill up the plane and you can send large boxes for a fraction of the proce if youre not bothered when they arrive (within a given window of course)
