The importation laws are federal laws. An imported car is supposed to handled by a registered importer, who can stipulate that all of the required DOT and EPA changes were made.

The feds aren't going to be concerned about amber turn signals, repositioned reverse lights, etc.

All told, it's possible that the state shouldn't have registered your car at all. Of course, if you can get away with it, more power to you.
