We also set up 529 accounts. We used one to pay our daughter's university in Canada. I think any foreign school that has a Federal School Code is eligible. You can look up schools here:

Choose 'Foriegn Country' in the 'State' dropdown to search for foreign schools.

I actually looked at that one before and discovered that it's not a complete list. It doesn't show any Canadian universities for a start. For example, my daughter goes to the University of Western Ontario in Canada which has a federal school code of G08446. You can find it there by entering the school code but it doesn't appear on any other search.
