Default Self Parking motor?

Basically for the lazy or inept, the Toyota Prius has a self parallel parking optional extra, comes out over here in a bit...and later on in the year, it'll even say if the spot is too small....bit of a design oversight that anyway

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/...n1463635.shtml

So would you go for it? What options do you have in your car?

leather seats and half decent sound system would be it for me

Being a self confessed idiot when it comes to parallel parking I would probably go for it!

I've never even tried to parallel park a car and have become quite the expert at driving straight into parking spaces .. even though this does sometimes mean missing out on a convenient space because it's just a tad too tight. That problem only happend in the UK; in the US the parking spaces are that much bigger so being able to parallel park isn't that important.

Don't need one, like to think I'm the best parallel parker in NYC. But cool gadget, good find BOB. Useful, for all the visitors to NYC (Especially from NJ), who are unable to park a Mini Cooper in, in 3 car spaces.

parallel parking is such a doddle though...it's a lot easier than driving into a slot, but then so is reversing in, I always reverse in anyway, makes it easier getting out...and you say the spots are larger here, but people park so badly, that it had no effect...I was able to slide into a slot nice and easy with a couple inches either side of the mirror, couldn't get up because the stupid plonk in the SUV next to me, apart from taking two spots, the mirror was huge and I couldn't open the door...sun roof would have been handy

700 notes though, bit of an expensive extra, but I reckon they'll be making plenty of money out of it...though somehow it'll be just weird seeing a car park unaided

Morning Frank. Hope you're not referring to me. LOL. Anyway I have sensors on the bumpers. Seriously it is funny to watch a lot of Americans trying to park, especially reversing into a parallel spot.

A Collision alarm and a Body air bag might be nice in NJ.

As much metal around me and as many airbags as possible, that's my main consideration. Oh and big wheels and chunky tyres to survive the Jersey potholes.

Referring to you? Never?
Americans, If they don't live in a big city, they cannot park.
