Only just getting used to the idea that we have to close the door when the air con is on - the family keep saying "we're not air conditioning the whole street!!" The gas is free so heat is no probs but you have to pay to be cold. Silly nation!!!

The few that open, yes. We've just moved to a new house, and its got a 10billion star energystar rating - part of which appears to be to have very few opening windows.....they reckon its cos they're more efficient as less chance of draughts, but I reckon they just think we're all too stupid to know when to open and close them....

But at the moment, any that can open, are!

Ha, my wife would be on you like a ton of bricks......if I'm shifting tools and stuff from the garage inside to do a job, she wants the door closed between each trip All it means is more trips, so more openings, but she hasn't cottoned on to that yet

what is annoying are the screen doors with those hinges that take forever to close....but screen doors are great, can keep the door open in summer and keep the bugs out...

The thing I hate about screen doors is that if your not fast enough through they catch the back of your ankles on the way into the house.

Don't know what they're doin'
But they laugh a lot behind the screen door

Mind you I always found the American saying " I banged her like an old screen door" pretty humorous

Perhaps we should start referring to our female significant others as 'the old screen door' - rather than 'the old ball an chain' ?

Yeah but they're probably not referring to the significant other

We don't have a screen door on the front door, so that never stays open. But we do have a screen door on our patio door at the back - and thats a slidey model rather than a push-pull model, so we don't have the ankles problem. And in the 5 years I've lived in the house, I've never walked into our screen door.
