The problem is that football takes much longer to recover for. Because of the punishing nature of the sport, teams can only play about one game a week. That's why the NFL season is only 16 games long.

If you had each team play only once a week in an March Madness-style tournament, it would take months to complete.

32 team playoff-
16 games on 11/23 (Thanksgiving)
8 on 12/2-12/3
4 on 12/9-12/10
skip a week for recovery if you wish,
2 on 12/23-12/24
Final National Championship game on 1/2...for example

yes it would add 5 games/weeks to the schedule (for 32 team) or 4 for a 16 team playoff...but it certainly could be done- and the $$ revinue would be ungodly- the only issue would be how to divy it up, equally among all or graduated from top down.

Nicely done. I like the idea, but people will never go for ditching the BCS.

From the few seconds I've seen, they are either overweight, or have greasy long hair and pasty white faces which would not be out of place in Deliverance.

NOPE - YOU CAN SUPPORT BOTH!

loads of people I know have season tickets for both and when the teams have an overlapping weekend schedule, they give me the tickets they don;y need!

I personally like both, although fat phil has been shit this year (Phil Fulmer UT head coach)

AS well as the titans (stadium 5 mins away) I also watch the predators - ice hockey, which I think is good and fun too

I alse like watching the Lady Vols (university of TN womens basketball) some of the girlies are hot (others not so much)

Didn't you get the memo at the start of the year from Phil Fulmer giving the team the year off ???????? LOLOL..... The lady vols are good to watch but not being too much of a basketball fan, their skills may be wasted on me.

Bowl Championship Series... the screwed up way they currently employ to match teams for bowl games. Granted, this year there was actually a great match with #1 v #2, but rarely does it work out as such

How on earth can Basketball of any profession be exciting except for the last 10 minutes. Here is an example of scoring...

3-3, 3-5, 6-3, 6-6, 8-6, 8-8, 11-8, 11-11 (first 10 mins) then later

44-42, 44-44, 46-44, 46-46, 46-48, 46-50 (whoa), 49-50 (oh), 50-50 and then near the end..

88-88, 90-88, 90-90 (1 min to fo)

90-93, 90-95, 90-97, 97-93, 99-96.... (whistle)...

And there you have it ladies and gentlemen... Join a basketball game, a few minutes from the end and you have something a little more exciting than watching cobwebs die
