Can you buy Savlon skin healing cream in the states? If not is there a local equivalent?

Failing that there is a huge choice of antiseptic and antibiotic creams in the US...there must be one that fits the bill.

Our local equivalent is called "udder balm". It was originally developed for dairy cows as the name suggests. It was discovered that it worked pretty well on human skin as well.
