Default Sausages

If you have Costco membership don't forget to grab the Irish Sausage they sell for St Paddy's day.... For those of you that have not tried them (in my opinion) they are the best sausages I have found In the US, they are approx $7.50 for 8 large links.

Not been to Trader Joes this week, but they usually do Irish bangers for Paddy's day too, and they have been great in the past, they were $3.50 for a 6 pack the last time.

Stupid that they don't do them the rest of the year...and what's with all that cabbage crap...eek.

I actually came on here looking for a good sausage recommendation! (going to attempt making sausage rolls!) This was perfect!

For sausage rolls, you want sausage meat, not sausages.
this is not bad:

thank you! Any other tips? recipes? I was reading a gaurdian article about simply cutting the casing off sausages to use the meat inside.

That's what I do, or reshape the patties if they're on sale...but bangers work too if the missus is putting them together.

If being lazy, I use the Pillsbury cresent roll dough stuff, but the missus makes her own pastry.

Crescent roll dough is not puff pastry, might be better off with the pre-made puff pastry, if you want more traditional style.

I was always a cynic in the past but I've become a big fan of a New England boiled dinner in recent years. Peasant food at its best. Hannaford does a lovely corned beef n cabbage. Whole foods does the organic version which is a bit tough I find.

Maine has a butcher called Maillhot from the Auburn area who does a breakfast sausage, tastes very like a banger to me. I use them in my sausage rolls.

True, but it's good enough and 3 for a buck Wegmans own brand v $5 for a box sheet of puff pastry....

Kniffin's Speciality Meats in Skowhegan and Waterboro, they do fab sausages, as does the Co-Op in Belfast, if you're a bit north

Dam I checked last weekend and they didn't have any. Now I have to go back.
Last year I had 40lbs in the freezer when they marked them down. Only lasted till the end of May.

So does anyone have any recommendations for a product that would suffice for puff pastry? I'm not much of a cook so anything I can find at Walmart or Food Lion would be amazing. (I'm not brave enough to attempt to make it from scratch, i'd mess it up!)
