So does anyone have any recommendations for a product that would suffice for puff pastry? I'm not much of a cook so anything I can find at Walmart or Food Lion would be amazing. (I'm not brave enough to attempt to make it from scratch, i'd mess it up!)
Just look for puff pastry in the freezer aisle. Pepperidge is one manufacturer.

Went to the local Irish pub for dinner last night (It's waayy more British than Irish IMHO, but that's another story). I found out that you can but British style sausages and bacon from them. Thought i'd died and gone to heaven

This Irish stuff confuses me a bit.

Are they Irish bacon and sausage because Americans like things Irish and there is no thing for British (calling them Irish is more marketable) or are some things which I assume to be British actually imports from Ireland? Anyone know this bit of cultural history?

thank you from the bottom of my stomach!

Currently $4.49 per lb (pack). Bought three, two in the freezer. Just had a sausage butty - homemade bread, touch of ketchup and mustard, nom nom nom.

They were a bit on the bland for my normal taste (usually prefer Lincolnshire sausages), but that would be picky. Thank you again!

Maine has a butcher called Maillhot from the Auburn area who does a breakfast sausage, tastes very like a banger to me. I use them in my sausage rolls.
and red flannel hash from the leftovers, Ayuh!

That's not bad going for price still and yeah, they're no Lincolnshire sausages, but they're the best value for money I've found and pretty decent. Certainly a hell of a lot cheaper than Wholefoods and the like.

They were great in sausage rolls, spread a bit of mustard and pepper jelly on and wrap in pastry for the nom, nom, nom

Yep, sausage rolls = jimmy dean pork sage sausage meat wrapped pepperidge farm puff pastry, easy peasy, yum

Off to Trader Joe's tomorrow to look for Bob's Irish sausages. One of the local stores makes their own English sausage, not bad at all.

I find it's the former in my area of the eastern USA (& I suspect everywhere else in America). Anything at all British is simply labelled Irish (especially in the spring, i.e. anywhere near St. Pat's). Historically, the thousands & thousands of Irish immigrants who poured into this part of America vastly outnumbered any puny trickles of English, Welsh, Scots who made their way here. So everything British is called Irish, which is considered "close enough".
