Sausages!!!!

Just found some British bangers in Giant Eagle!!! OMG so exciting, how sad is that?

Frozen, $6.99 for 6 which is expensive. I bought some, I'll let you know what they taste like. But we may keep them frozen for a while and just look at them occasionally.
They also had Auntie Bessies Yorkshire puds and bubble and squeak, Youngs Chip Shop fish fingers and some frozen Indian food. All at huge cost, of course.

I'll have to go and lie in a darkened room for a while

Anyone in Texas needs to check out Randalls...they have a UK section now. Everything from teabags (Tetley and PG Tips) to pickled onions, salad cream, Daddy's sauce and for some inexplicable reason, Boots brand condoms.

I guess everyone likes their own...

The Giant Eagle I used was a big Market District one but they weren't in the posh deli bit, they were just in the freezer section.
I did buy some from Whole Foods, again at huge cost and they were nice but very meaty and my family like the Walls type fatty banger.

I hope they are nice. We have tried so many sausages here and none have been right.
We used to have bangers, mash, yorkshire puddings and onion gravy every week back home. Drool.

got a stop and shop? They sell some that aren't to bad...though I prefer the wholefoods, the breakfast sausages weren't to bad, the irish bangers were okay, but not worth the money....though the spicey mango sausages were pretty good :D

You guys need to try some of the special ones from HEB. They have really great flavors like chicken, cheese & jalapeno and they are to DIE for.

Don't knock it till you try it. Nothing like a fat sausage in the mouth.

Will you lot get a grip. If you want english style sausages and bacon:

http://www.britishbacon.com/

Not cheap but it all arrives fresh in an insulated box packed with dry ice. After that you don't have to just have to imagine what it smells and tastes like. Better than those back home IMO.

p.s. I'm not expecting a brown envelope from BB.

I never trust a site that isn't willing to share it's prices! Might as well have a scrolling banner that says 'Rip Off'...! Although I could be cheerfully wrong..

Owing to the fact that Williamsons (British Bacon) charge you an arm, leg, pair of kidneys and your first born for a couple of bits of bacon and sausage I'd try www.goodwoods.com
They're in Texas and are cheaper than British Bacon.

It's a grocery chain, like Kroegers or Randalls. They're here in Texas, not sure if it's a southern thing, or national chain though.

thanks for the link but the problem with these websites is you have to chuck out at least $20 (in the ones I've seen) for something you haven't tasted. I have tasted so many 'British' sausages here and they are all horrible, grisly etc. If I could find a website that sells British sausages with a known British brand then I'd be over the moon :)

I understand that Williamsons (British Bacon) bacon and sausages are used by BA and Virgin Atlantic. I can also highly recommend them. Still pricey though.

Bought 2llb last weekend from Central Market in Plano they were described as British Bangers. They were the size of cumberland sausages I would give them 5 out of 10 as they were pretty tasteless.
