San Francisco
I am considering moving from Houston Texas to San Francisco. Any expats living in San Francisco that can give me some insight into cost of living, job market and anything else that might be useful or interesting.

Re: San Francisco
You may want to define exactly what you mean by "San Francisco." Do you want to live in The City or will the "Bay Area" be sufficient?

Re: San Francisco
Cost of living is MUCH higher in the Bay Area, starting with property and continuing with pretty much everything else. Plus, of course, CA has one of the higher state income taxes.
The last company I worked for (which was big and so spent money researching such things) paid Bay Area +15% over the rates for the same jobs in Texas. The differential wasn't enough - Texans made out much better than Californians.

Re: San Francisco
Yes - the various online cost of living calculators suggest that a San Francisco salary would have to be anything from 150% to 175% of a Houston salary to give an equivalent standard of living.
