Resonable Relocation Package - Job Transfer
I am Brit currently living in The Netherlands with my Dutch Wife/Daughter. I have just been offered a 3year job transfer to Shreveport LA USA and was wondering what kind of relocation package would be reasonable? I have a sales position at a chemical company which I have held for 10years (When i moved to NL). Its quite a complex product hence they want to send me to the USA to improve their sales in that market. I'm currently earning around 60k Euro excluding performance bonuses (max 10% which I usually get) I'm located around 30miles from Amsterdam so I guess its comparable to a 45GBP/Year job close to London (But not IN the city). What kind of wage level should I expect as a minimum to have a similar standard of living? and what about compensation for living abroad.
I have already got them to commit to taking care of the green card, medical expenses and my house in NL (Which I will not sell in this economic climate..).
Any thoughts/comments are appreciated.
Cheers,
Martin

This is Australia focused but gives you a guide:

Do you know which category green card will be applicable? It makes a difference between the waiting time being months instead of years.
And isn't your daughter British as well as Dutch?

My Daughter is officially Dutch as she was born here, unfortunately there are no dual nationality agreements here as we are all Europeans (So in their eye's what's the difference). I would not imagine it being difficult to get a British Passport if we moved to the UK but that's unlikely to happen (In fact we were considering moving to Germany before getting this job offer..).

Re: Resonable Relocation Package - Job Transfer
Relocation comes up a lot, even recently, so you can get a good idea of the kind of things to ask if you search.

That'll help with an idea of the place your looking at.

Re: Resonable Relocation Package - Job Transfer
Absolutely no problem with dual Dutch/other nationality provided that this is acquired at birth, also provided the person concerned keeps a valid Dutch passport.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_nationality_law
Your daughter is a British citizen by descent - assuming you were born in Britain - and even if you don't get a British passport, you should obtain a British birth certificate. Which makes it easier to get a British passport in future if desired.

As for you, you may well be eligible for Dutch citizenship due to your residence in the Netherlands + marriage to a Dutch citizen. Dual citizenship is normally allowed for spouses of Dutch citizens. See http://www.ind.nl

Your research is quite incomplete and you would do well to look at this again.

I have a permanent Dutch residence permit so getting Dutch nationality (or Dual) would not be difficult, also I can get my daughter a British passport but would that actually make any difference to getting into the USA? do they consider Brits any different to our Dutch friends? I expect the costs to be in the region of 1000Euro to sort this out for the both of us so would rather avoid this naturally.....
Best regards,

Re: Resonable Relocation Package - Job Transfer
Thanks for the information, I looked at this thoroughly before I got married (therefore it was not possible for me at that time). In the meantime I realised there is hardly any benefit of being Dutch (rather than a Brit) living here anyway (unless I want to Vote for the Dutch government).
