Question Renting in Chicago - Sales (etc) Tax?

Hello All,

We're planning to relocate the family to Chicago this summer - does anyone know if there are taxes on top of the sticker price when looking at apartment rental costs?

Thanks in advance!

Is that advice specifically for Illinois? Because in some states there can be a tax added if the lease is short (in one of my former states of residence any lease less than 7 months had the local hotel tourist tax and sales tax added)

I've rented in Missouri and California and neither added taxes. My leases were for a year or more in each case.

Make sure you get the info for security deposit, whether you need to pay first and last etc., upfront.
