I am a uk citizen in the u.s. on 3 month waiver but i want to extend without returning to the u.k. , does any body know if I were to travel across the border to canada/mexico and then return several days later if a new i94 would be issued for 3 months from the re-entry date, or would the original i94 date of departure be issued? Also because I have visited the u.s. several times in sucession immigration have warned i cannot return when the current i94 expires, is this likely to be noted on record?

No, that is specifically included in the program, that you cannot just simply pop
into Canada or Mexico to extend a visa waiver entry, and short of getting hitched to
an American, there is no way to extend it.

The INS will have the info on record, and it will be in your passport.

If you are in the united states on the visa waiver program and go to contiguous
territory (Canada or Mexico) upon return to the United States you will get the
remainder of the original 90 days. INS does have a computer record of your entry.
