Re: Re-Branding
Are you on the same planet? You are making absolutly no sense what so ever. I am making a point about changing the name the of the war and you are going on about fighting islamic fundamentmentalists since the 50's, if you want to picky you could say since the middle ages. It is all irrelevant to the thread. Listen closly, I will write slowly so you can understand

see the difference. We have officially changed the name of the war we are fighting so people will be invogorated and buy back into it.
You are also unaware of what does and does not constitute a whine, pointing out that we live in society which allows people to protest at the funerals of fallen soldiers because of homosexuality is not a whine, it is merely a comment on the country I live in. Pointing out they are changing the name of the war is not a whine, but a comment on the commercialism of everything - including war.
Thanks for playing but this time you didnt win.

It has always ben so- for Christ's sake, the Islamic Fundamentalists have been at it (attacking the Judeo-Christian West) since the late 50's... i'ts about time someone actually decided it was time to fight back.
So if what you want to whine about today in your almost daily whine on life in America, or life with Bush as president is that they are changing the name... I can only think that there are better things to waste your time on. Maybe you could start your own thread...Patrick's daily Whine- it could be kinda like Bob's thread on interesting news topics a while back...and everyone could rush each day to see what atrocities you have been forced to suffer in the previous 24 hours.

Do you really think people are so stupid that a name change will re-invogorate it as you say? I don't. I think the people will continue to tire of it, and all the barrage of daily news against it...until another attack like WTC/Madrid/Bali/London occurs close to home and the re-awake. Most of the 'sheep' we have as citizens could care less- as long as they and theirs are well off, and fed.
As for your comment about the soldiers funeral, I find that totally reprehensible- and hope the Kooks burn in a special hell for the pain the cause a hero's family in their moment of loss.

Well if you agree with everything why the hell are you argueing with me? EVERYTHING you just said (apart from the bit about crusade bit) was my point exactly, a name change changes nothing.
This is another case of "its not what you say, its what people hear", for some reason you think I was making a comment on the war, when I was making comment that it doesnt matter what you call it, rebranding it still makes it a war that no-one cares about.

I view it (and have viewed it for the last 20 years) as one of the most important struggles western society has ever faced. And I am not a Kristian Kook, nor a Zionist nor a war monger...just a realist who sees a brooding, under-educated, hate filled population of 1+billion muslims becoming more and more reactive and think that things like 9/11 WTC, 3/11 Madrid and other attacks becoming monthly or weekly events in a future not so far away- if we don't nip it in the bud.
