Is that proud for the first time in your life?

Or perhaps you mean the way America's led the world in deregulating the financial system, turning obesity into an epidemic and eroding individual civil liberties?
I'm very, very happy that Barack has been elected. I'm equally happy that I'm not a jingoistic twat like you.

No! But I do have the same feeling now to when Clinton won the White House. But some how this time it does feel even more special and I think the world has a similar sentiment to this occasion. I hear the BBC is airing 5 hours of tomorrow's inaugural celebrations.I think there is a lot more hope which has not been there for quite some years.

Yeah! I particularly like the way that American led the world in abolishing slavery. And introducing women's suffrage. And standing up to fascism.

I am already wary since he has a few on his cabinet who will not want change (Clinton etc.) Change wont benefit politicians, politicians wont do anything that doesn't benefit them.
When Obama proves himself then I'll give him credit, he has not been in federal politics that long, nor ran a major government, being a senator is not the same as being a leader.

...... Shame it's not a true democracy, shame the last twat cheated to get in, shame it's so far behind the rest of the world in technology.
Shame the only way to get to be the president is by raising the most money.
Shame poor people go sick because the health insurance companies control the f**kin govt.
Shame workers have no rights.
But hey ! ..... I love this country.

You certainly are very optimistic, good for you. You mention change, and being on the verge of real change.... What do you mean?
