Property Taxes

Re: Property Taxes
Town has no water, no sewage, and no trash/recycling pickup. The trash situation is very wasteful, since people have to either dump all their trash on their back forty or illegally burn it, or choose to go with one of a dozen or so private contractors. This means a dozen or so trash haulers drive around country roads, picking up at just a small proportion of houses. There is a county transfer station, but it's nearly twenty miles from us..

Oh well - like notonuksoil, I consider it mostly cheap school fees. If we'd stayed in Switzerland, we'd have had to move at least my oldest into English-speaking education for secondary; here, we chose an area with top-rated elementary, middle and high schools (small class sizes in the low 20s, superb academic results, excellent range of music, art and sport programs offered in school, swimming complex included on site, etc). So yeah, cheap school fees for two kids. Sort of.
