property tax - 2,600
gas prices here are at about $2.98
City council tax on 2 cars - 600.00 (thats not including road tax) with is another 100.00
and of course tax is added on here on anything you buy.

I've probably missed something out, but I can't think of it off hand..

Trust me we're taxed about the same here in the US are we were in the UK......
And general insurance is often more expensive, especially for houses and cars...

Ours is and I so dislike handing the money over but it has to be done. So today's lunch hour will be spent lining up at the courthouse Tax Office and then I'll be officially broke
Our tax deadline is in April and October (I think) but our taxes are included in our payment....so thankfully I don't have to hand a wad of cash over to anyone except the mortgage company.....

I did sit down and estimate it not so long ago and it worked out that with council tax, income tax, vat on purchases and hikes like petrol, we're paying about 10-12 thousand per year in taxes etc......make you feel any better?
Not really, seeing as we're paying $6000 a year in property tax and $11000 a year for health insurance, before you even start adding up the income tax, sales tax, peeing tax, etc.

Current monthly house bills $400 for oil, $200 for elec, about £120 for ploughing.

Trying not to think about all the others, not to mention that we don't get any Tax Credits or benefits here of any description.

But thanks for trying... I didn't move here to be better off, I moved here for the trees and boy has it got them

(Forgot to mention we pay our taxes in escrow so I think we pay 6 months ahead?)

The moaning got me down when I was there. My Mum always tells me how "bad" it is, but it's always stuff she's read, not what's actually happening in her life.

I have to admit my Dad isn't like that....now if you asked him which horse is looking good for the 3:30 at Haydock, he'd have all the stats for you...

Unfortunately the news just likes to give you all the doom and gloom...

Health insurance premiums are $92 a month.....but the screw all deductible is sky high:curse::curse::curse:

We've got trees too.....
