I had a bad experience with XE Trade and I found that it was costing me more with them than with PayPal (which was a surprise).
For larger sums, I would go through your bank. For smaller amounts, Pay Pal or XE Trade (if you don't mind the crap support and badly designed site).
Different methods suit different people.

Admittedly their website looks sh*te, but then again I'd rather pay lower rates than subsidise some flash front end that does the same job as the vanilla version.

Please give us specifics.
My own experience is that XE have excellent customer support and I see nothing wrong with the website.

support has always been good to me (only needed it once due to my own stupidity)
design is certainly not flash but it takes me less than 30 seconds to complete a transaction
I've had about 40 transactions over 3 and a half years and it has been been plain sailing for me

As far as site designs go, it plays a factor in my decision making. Can't help it, I'm a web designer.
If it works for others, all well and good. It just didn't suit what I needed. End of story.

You are the only member I have seen write a criticism of XE. It would be to the benefit of the community if we knew what the problem was.
I presume it was not related to the site being functional rather than "all bells and whistles" as someone else put it.

I think thats the point Rincewind made
One of the major things that narked him was the design
Different things turn different people on (or off)
My friend just bought a brand new chevvy cobalt at retail price and loves the fact he financed it over 6 years
I think he should get the short bus to work instead and be sterilised so he doesn't pollute the gene pool, but thats just one thing that narks me

I thought the xe.com look and feel was shit from the get go, but it is functional and it works
I'm more about function than form, other people are more about form than function - how else has the Ipod been successful?
