Default Police state - any thoughts?

watched the frankly disturbing Alex Jones documentary last night on google videos. What do BE members think? Whatever your opinion everybody should at least have a look. We await your thoughts.

I'm finding the latest 'CNN committed treason' for showing the sniper video debacle slightly disturbing. You can show airliners crashing into buildings and 'Smart bombs' taking out buildings until the cows come home, show the other side of the story and it's treason. Twats.

Although it ranked 17th on the first list, published in 2002, the United States now stands at 53, having fallen nine places since last year.

"Relations between the media and the Bush administration sharply deteriorated after the president used the pretext of 'national security' to regard as suspicious any journalist who questioned his 'war on terrorism,' " the group said.

"The zeal of federal courts which, unlike those in 33 U.S. states, refuse to recognize the media's right not to reveal its sources, even threatens journalists whose investigations have no connection at all with terrorism," the group said.

I think the highly polarized nature of US politics makes the likelihood of someone like GWB coming to power extremely likely - republicans will vote for their candidate no matter what and the same with democrats.
Remove Iraq from the equation and he has still made so many monumentally crass decisions it is untrue - he is a weak puppet of the corporations and lobbyists

All valid and interesting points, good links and information I didn't have before, but........I really wondered what you guys thought of the documentary if you have seen it and if not take an hour out to watch it. Particularly what you make of the claims that the London bombings of July 7th were orchestrated by criminal factions of the secret service to bolster Blair's approval rating for the election?
Seems like compelling evidence for this is provided from not only David Shayler (whatever your opinion of him may be) but also from Michael Meacher and other prominent figures.

They point out that odd things like, for e.g. there was a'training excercise' being carried out at the exact time and aimed at the exact locations which suddenly became a reality - this, it is pointed out is exactly what happened during the 9/11 attacks which is the reason why jets weren't scrambled to intercept any further possible threats because it was assumed to be a drill. That and many other interesting facts.

Just curious as to what you folk think of the idea that our own goverment could have bombed it's own citizens (and, according to the film, America it's own at 9/11) in order to create further justification for the introduction of new security powers and to fan the flames for the war in iraq. Anyway, that was a mouthfull ha ha. Thoughts?

Sorry mate, I'm not big on conspiracy theory. too many whistleblowers about. Most politicians can't even wipe their own bums, let alone orchestrate something bigger.

Yes, but maybe that is just a sham - all part of the conspiracy gruff. "They" are always one step ahead you know.
