Police Check
Can you apply for the police check before you get the forms from the embassy in London, or do they have a speical form you have to fill in with the pacet of forms they send you ?
Just trying to save a few weeks.

Get a Data Protection form from any UK police force - in London it can take up to 6 weeks. The cost is ten pounds.
If you know a cop they might be able to get it done straight away. I was lucky as I was in the Met before I came over here so got it done on the spot.

I got my police check back in about 10 days!
While we're on the subject, can I ask a question? About 8 years ago I had a couple of traffic offences, namely not having a tax disc. I only got a fine (had to go to a Magistrates Court) and paid it in full. When I got my police check back it was totally clear...no information held on me. Do I have to declare this traffic fine if it's not on my police check? Is it counted as criminal?

I can't imagine any place in America where once being cited for not having at sometime paid some sort of auto registration-tax would be counted as a criminal conviction. In certainly most (and probably all) states that is classified as a mechanical offense--- which makes it only an infraction. In America, once those things are cleared up (by paying the fee/fine or whatever), then that's it for good--- you never hear about them again. . . certainly not popping up on your records anon.

Thanx ravena. Thankfully my agency hadn't sent my packet 3 in yet, but apparently changes have been made and it's possible that that page is no longer included in the packet 3 and that you don't have to fill in the criminal record part until the embassy interview. My agent is finding out for me and I'll let you know what happens.
