Or Bobbies? Where does that term come from?. I was asked today at work and had no idea.

As far as I know, no one's ever been able to give a definative answer to the origin of the term "Old bill".

Does anyone actually use the term "Bobbies" any more in England? Americans always seem to know it, but Brits don't really use it, do they? Maybe we all should just pretend to use it for the sake of the British Tourist Board.
