Yosser 7 years ago.... Walking around Weymouth along with 200,000 people all in fancy dress, hitting as many bars as possible and waking up in someone hedgerow.
This year, at a in-laws house sipping on a few and watching T.V....the excitement is almost too much to handle!

We originally had plans to hit the Compass room, which is a swanky steak place on top of the Hyatt in downtown Phoenix. But at $100 a head before drinks and tip, we decided to go to another local steak place that we got a $75 dollar gift card for at christmas. I think I've only been awake once in the last 3 years at 12am on New Years eve and unfortunatly, that wasn't due to heavy drinking.

We'll be at a friend's house for an Oyster Roast. Will be the first time hubby has been to one, or eaten steamed oysters. Quite a traditional way to spend New Year's Eve here in the Deep South. Oysters and champagne.
Then, on New Year's Day, another meal tradition: ham, black-eyed peas and rice (known as Hoppin' John), collard greens, and cornbread. Each item is symbolic: the collard greens signify dollars for the next year; black-eyed peas are for coins; the ham is supposed to bring health; and cornbread also means wealth.
I've been eating this traditional New Year's Day meal for almost thirty years, but I'm still poor.
Happy New Year, y'all!!!!
