Default Pet Insurance Premiums

Hi!
Fairly new to BE; first time I've started a new thread.
Can anyone give me an indication of the cost of pet insurance for a medium/large dog, in Northern California or the North West (we're not yet sure where we will be living)?

Any guidance will be very welcome

As with most insurance it depends on how much/what kind of cover you get.

I paid $50 a month for top-end coverage (i.e., reimbursement of preventive as well as treatment). That was in NC.

[later edit: NC = North Carolina, not N Cal - I see you were asking about California]

I woudln't pay 50 cents to insure any animal

I like them but they ain't worth all that ! .. If they get sick see a vet, if it's too much money bye bye doggy or bye bye cat.
If they bite someone, the asshole shouldn't be on my property anyway.

If they bite someone inocent like a child for instance I would shoot the thing myself

Each to their own, I suppose. For some people, a dog is more than just a possession to be thrown out if it gets past a sell by date.

I have a friend in Northern Cali who has many dogs, and she has them all on the new ASPCA insurance which she says is very good.

She used to have VPI but found they wouldn't pay out for a lot of things.

Hope that helps.

Hi and welcome.

I think pet insurance is quite a bit less common here than in the UK. Often, I believe the cost isn't worth it for what they pay out. I would suggest you read the fine print very carefully, and make sure it is really a good idea for you.

Didn't say I don't like dogs .... We have one with three and a half legs and I would miss it like crazy if it went, but humans are far more important .... Kids and family insurance yes ... Doggy or Cat no
