I tried that and got nothing. Is there something I am missing? Please be polite in answering that one.

You have to use the keypad, not the QWERTY set of numbers.

ALT156 = £

or

ALT0163 = £ (that's Zero 1 6 3)

Down here in sunny Southwest Florida some Publix supermarkets have Lyle's, Bovril and Marmite as well as Cadbury's Flakes, but it depends on their own clientele. The "Ethnic" section can vary a lot between locations.

Only one of the 4 or 5 Publix we have here sells Ox Kidney. Sometimes they mis-label Veal Kidney as Ox. It takes 5 times as much to make a decent Steak & Kidney Pie. The key is in the colour, Veal kidney is quite pale in comparison to the reddish-brown of the real thing.

As for finding Lamb's Liver or Kidney. I suspect the animals here have been genetically modified to have none.

There is something new in our local store called "Australian-American Lamb". I haven't worked that one out yet.

Looks like we have two threads going at the same time here
So I'm just checking to see if this works, then you can go back to discussing marmite.

Having tried both of those and got nothing I have from your response tried again. I found that both worked when I pressed 'number lock'. Are there times when you feel you are a complete idiot, I ask myself? worth at least 3 pints.

On some laptops there is a "hidden" keypad using a Function key. There may be a set of keypad numbers superimposed on a few keys in a contrasting colour to match the Function key.

Alternatively you can find the £ sign by running charmap (start-run-charmap) and then doing a cut and paste.

South Carolina is almost close enough to drive over for a drink, if you had Marston's Pedigree.

Tried it once in the UK. I am sure it was in the Wolverhampton area but cannot say I liked it. If I am in Columbia, SC, shopping sometime I will check out a liquor, beer and wine shop that is suppose to sell everything. I came home from hospital today from a total hip replacement op but can't celebrate that because of the rat poison I have to take for 20 days but I would be thankful for a small Murphy.

Marston's may well be an acquired taste. A lot of people prefer their regular Best Bitter but Pedigree is stronger. It used to be in the top 3 Draught Bitters for strength. Brewed in Burton on Trent, it was one of the last traditionally made beers i.e. no glass or stainless steel.

Here is a link which tells an inetresting Pedigree story
