don't be silly the line doesn't get any longer than one person behind
that is one advantage of living in wy. you don't have impatient people stood behind you.

I believe the comparison so far is with Rete, Leslie66 and Ray's wife. See earlier posts in this thread and make your call.

Obviously you are all young or youngish. First of all I never use a cheque for shopping. I have a direct debit card (which although available in the UK I never used) as well so it is no different to cash. By UK standards I am on old fart(by my Son) or an old codger(by my Daughter). Even so it boils down to the fact here in SC banking and cheque books are free when you retire. Fancy stopping the Banks from making their 'meagre' profits.

The delay is the failure of the US banking system. In some more advanced countries, the payment is real time. You can pay the bill at 11:59 pm and you'll make it!

Wholeheartedly agree to all that, especially the security- we've been victims of ID fraud 3 times- twice our details were taken from checks we'd paid... I hate paying anything by check now (also, coming from the UK I REALLY resent having to buy the damn things). Will have to teach my hubby how to do it all though
I've had online banking with Wachovia for about 3 years with absolutely no problems- I use quicken and love being able to automatically download bank transactions and everything (even credit card and investment account transactions) straight in to quicken. With one click I can update all our accounts.
One of the biggest advantages, I've found, is that you can set up bill payments (up to 90 days in advance) to be paid on the 'due date' and not have to worry that payments get there on time when you mail etc. I've just set up payments for all the bills for this month and Feb..as I'll be in UK for 3 weeks...
I can't even imagine going back to paying everything by check and mail now and monthly statements.. I have very few statements coming to the house now..am aiming for a paperless house Oh, and I'm a 'mature' woman

I would rather buy stamps and keep someone working at the post office, buy envelopes and keep someone working at the paper mill, store, etc. and know that I wrote a check to cover the expenses. I have never had a check bounce or be non-delivered in all my adult years.
You can keep your online banking .. I like the tried and true.
