Maybe this is a local thing, not sure but I find it really weird that hearses use purple flashing lights when they are on the way to a funeral and all the cars in the procession have little flags... weird.

and how come a lot of people here seem to have mixed matched furniture? I don't think I have seen anyone here with a 3 piece suite yet.

Maybe it's an MI thing. Here in NC, people love to go the full monty with their furniture and but the whole room in the same fabric/style. Admittedly, I do live in the state with the self proclaimed furniture capital of the world (i.e. High Point).

Oh, here is another one. Eating peanut butter sandwiches with chili. They dip the peanut butter sandwiches in the chilli and eat it just like that... this must be a midwest thing but it grosses me out

In New Mexico, tow trucks (and a few other non-essentials) use blue light bars. I still hit the brake pedal everytime I see one.

We get lots of printed photo cards of children (but no Christmas greeting card to accompany them). Unfortunately we haven't ever met these children -they're the offspring of my husband's work colleagues.

Goodness knows why they think we would want photos of their kids? Most of the time I just put them in the bin as they're not the type of thing I would put on display on the mantelpiece or wall LOL!

Mmm. Foster's Market red pepper jelly with cream cheese is good!

If you're ever up in Durham, NC pop into Foster's Market for one of the sandwiches containing that jelly. You can pop in and see me too. I'm just up the road from FM actually...

Some more odd customs....coupons...I know we have 'em in blighty, but there coupon mad over here....kinda fun, and better than rebates, I know rebates make money for the companies, but they suck, they should just offer better prices or not bother at all, there just way to much hassle

And while on shopping....having people welcome you at a store, bit like in Japan, it's great, I like that a lot, but, having people check your shopping cart as you leave a store pisses me right off, like at Sam's Club and sometimes at wallyworld.
